Vol. 347 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disease Eradication Cards.

377.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason there is a considerable delay in returning blood samples and disease eradication qualifying cards; and if he is aware of the resulting hardship being imposed on farmers who have to wait a considerable length of time for their cards.

I am satisfied that blood samples taken for brucellosis purposes are handled by my Department as expeditiously as possible and that there is no delay in the issue of test results. Return of cattle identity cards to herdowners is a matter for the private veterinary practitioner who blood samples the animals. While a practitioner may occasionally delay the return of cards to a herdowner, I have no reason to believe that this is a serious problem.
