Vol. 347 No. 12

Written Answers. - Grants to Foreign Industrialists.

341.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism the amount and nature of IDA grants paid to foreign industrialists in 1983.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that the following grants were paid to foreign companies in 1983:

Capital Grants

£39,796,000

Grants on Leased Fixed Assets

£14,123,000

Training Grants

£11,757,000

Other Incentives

£10,137,000

Total

£75,813,000

"Other incentives" include rent reduction grants, interest subsidies, equity participation, research and development grants, employment grants and feasibility study grants. The figures do not include costs to the State arising out of tax based lending. The above figures may be subject to revision as auditing has not yet been completed.
