Vol. 348 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 8, 9 and 10. Private Members' Business will be No. 53.

Will the Taoiseach inform the House what fate has befallen the Criminal Justice Bill, the Second Stage of which was completed more than two months ago? What are his plans for the Committee Stage, not that I want to have it rushed through the House? I would be interested to know if the Taoiseach is having any second thoughts on this?

The Deputy cannot make a speech on the Order of Business.

The Government have been discussing and agreeing amendments to bring forward. When these are drafted the Bill will come back to the House.

I should like permission to raise on the Adjournment the question of difficulties in relation to a Gaeltacht factory in Donegal, Smailcbhia Teoranta, whose work force have been asked to accept a three-day week.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

I had a question to the Minister for Health about the position arising out of his announcement on Sunday.

It was ruled out of order. I am sorry about that.

Will the Chair indicate on what basis it was ruled out of order?

No. I will not have a discussion about it here.

It is a matter of urgency because there is confusion with the students who believe the Minister is giving medical cards if they are living away from home. It is important that this is clarified.

I have ruled that the question did not meet the necessary criteria.
