Vol. 348 No. 9

Written Answers. - Commonage Division.

399.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the current position on the division of a commonage when all the tenants are not agreeable to have the division carried out; the policy of the Land Commission regarding the division of commonages; the steps he will take to have the question of commonages and their division fully clarified; and when these steps will be taken.

I am anxious to encourage the division of commonages in the interest of better land use, particularly of those commonages which have good agricultural potential. The Land Acts provide for compulsory division where some, but not all, of the shareholders are in agreement.

The services of the Land Commission are available to shareholders who apply for either compulsory or voluntary division. Application should be made to the local Land Commission office.
