Vol. 348 No. 10

Written Answers - Social Welfare Benefits.

355.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a decision on an unemployment assistance appeal will be made available to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Extensive inquiries about the income of the person concerned are still being made by a social welfare officer. However, it is expected that the investigation will be completed shortly after which his case will be referred to an appeals officer for determination of his means. His entitlement to unemployment assistance will be reviewed in the light of the decision of the appeals officer.

356.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the up-to-date position on proposals (details supplied) for a new location of the Enniscorthy employment exchange, County Wexford.

The branch manager of the employment office in Enniscorthy has been endeavouring for some time to secure improved accommodation and has examined the premises in question. These premises would be suitable but major repairs would however be necessary before they could be used as an employment office. The branch manager has been urged to bring the matter to a conclusion as soon as possible.
