asked the Minister for the Environment the number of apartment dwellings constructed in each of the past five years; and if the figures indicate any noticeable trend in living habits.
Written Answers. - Apartment Dwellings.
482.
Information on the number of apartments constructed is not available in my Department. The numbers of apartments for which certificates of reasonable value (CRVs) or certificates of reasonable cost (CRCs) were issued and the estimated number for which loans were advanced by the main lending agencies are as follows:
CRV's or CRC's |
Loans |
|
1979 |
113 |
165 |
1980 |
466 |
211 |
1981 |
656 |
221 |
1982 |
1,086 |
256 |
1983 |
1,384 |
636 |
The numbers of apartments being provided, although increasing, are still too small relative to housing output as a whole to suggest any significant new trend in living habits generally.
