Vol. 350 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

522.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the delay in paying a home improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; the date on which it will be paid; the amount that will be paid and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There was no undue delay in processing this application and grants totalling £800 were paid on 13 April 1984.

523.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons a new house grant and mortgage subsidy have not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; the date on which the respective payments will be made; the amounts that will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A £1,000 grant and mortgage subsidy cannot be paid to the person named until an inspection establishes that the house is complete and occupied and complies with all other conditions governing the schemes. The mortgage subsidy will be paid in annual instalments up to a maximum of £1,000, £800, £600, £400 and £200 over five years. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

524.

asked the Minister for the Environment the date on which his Department were informed that an applicant in County Galway wished to have his final inspection carried out for the payment of his £1,000 grant; the date on which it is proposed to carry out the inspection; and the reason for the delay.

As the file in this case is with my Department's inspector for investigation and report it is not possible to provide certain of the information sought by the Deputy. The inspector has been requested to expedite his inspection in this case and this will be carried out shortly.
