asked the Minister for Education if she will confirm that national teachers presently employed on a temporary basis will be allowed sit for the second part of their teaching diploma in 1984; if, on reaching the necessary standards, they will be awarded their teaching diploma; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The award of the diploma in teaching and the completion of probation in the case of national teachers, including qualified national teachers employed on a temporary basis, is governed, since 1 September 1983 by the terms of Circular 18/83, a copy of which will be forwarded to the Deputy for his information.
