(Limerick West) asked the Minister for Education when the construction of the extension to the primary school in Bruff, County Limerick, will commence.

My Department have under consideration an application from the boys' and girl's national schools, Bruff, County Limerick, for assistance in the provision of additional teaching accommodation. Following a recent report by my Department's inspector on enrolment trends I accept the need for extensions at these schools and am asking the Commissioners of Public Works to undertake in consultation with the school authorities a feasibilty study in this matter. As soon as the recommendations of the commissioners are furnished, my Department will communicate the outcome to the school authorities.

asked the Minister for Education if there are proposals before her Department for the extension of Clashmore and Piltown national schools, County Waterford.

Proposals have been placed before my Department for the extension of Clashmore and Piltown national schools, County Waterford. An extension to the site of the Clashmore school is necessary and arrangements in that regard are in hands. Negotiations are also taking place concerning the level of local contribution towards the cost of the project. In relation to the Piltown project, my Department expects to be in communication with the school authorities shortly with a view to agreement on the local contribution in this case.

asked the Minister for Education when it is anticipated that tenders will be invited for the erection of the new national school at Barnesmore, County Donegal.

The invitation of tenders for the proposed new national school at Barnesmore, County Donegal, was authorised recently by my Department. The necessary arrangements are a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works.
