Vol. 350 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Donegal Drainage Schemes.

548.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Finance the grounds on which the Office of Public Works has cut back on drainage and embankment schemes in County Donegal while at the same time Donegal County Council have paid their full contribution towards those drainage works.

Maintenance of arterial drainage and embankment schemes is carried out by the Commissioners of Public Works in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, due regard being had to the financial resources available. The moneys recoverable from Donegal County Council are directly related to the cost of the works carried out by the commissioners.
