Vol. 350 No. 8

Written Answers. - Garda Foot Patrols.

627.

asked the Minister for Justice the number and regularity of Garda foot patrols in Cabra East, Dublin 7; if he will comment on the complaints of residents there that Garda foot patrols are non-existent; and the action he will take to improve the situation.

Limerick East): The precise arrangements for the policing of particular areas are a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the Cabra East area receives regular attention from foot and mobile patrols from Mountjoy Garda station. It would be contrary to established practice to give details of the patrols operating in a particular area at any particular time.

Garda strength at Mountjoy station has been increased by seven members in recent months and the local Garda officers report that this additional manpower has enabled the patrolling arrangements for all areas of the Mountjoy Garda sub-district, including the Cabra East area, to be improved. The question of further improvement in the policing arrangements for Cabra East will be kept under review.
