My Department authorities each year the provision of public funds through the County Committees of Agriculture by way of contribution towards the costs of the county teams competing in the national ploughing championships organised by the National Ploughing Association. In 1983 this aid amounted to approximately £10,000, which is a reasonable level of aid, particularly in present circumstances.
