Vol. 352 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin School Building Improvements.

324.

asked the Minister for Education if she has received a memorandum on the effects of rain and wind on the classrooms of a school (details supplied) in Dublin 13; the remedial action her Department proposes to take to alleviate the problems at this school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Application has been received from the authorities of the school referred to for financial assistance towards the cost of improvements to the school building. These improvements comprise, in the main, roof insulation and the enlargement of the heating system. The matter was referred to the Commissioners of Public Works for investigation and report. The commissioners have inspected the school building and have requested the school authorities to obtain a detailed report from the consultants who supervised the original installation. When this detailed report has been received, my Department will consider such recommendations as the commissioners may make in relation to the question of grant-aid.
