Written Answers. - Health Board Grants.

417.

asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the grants made by health boards under section 65 of the Health Act, 1953 in the year ended December 1983; the value of each grant; the body receiving the grant; and the number of such grants.

418.

asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the value of the Health Act, 1953 Section 65; and the grants made by each health board in each of the ten years up to 31 December 1983.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 417 and 418 together.

Section 65 of the Health Act, 1953, enables health boards to assist voluntary bodies which provide valuable services in certain areas of the health services, largely in the community welfare area. The total grants provided by all health boards in 1983 amounted to about £12 million involving a considerable number of voluntary bodies.

As the full details requested by the Deputy cannot readily be assembled by the Department it is suggested that the Deputy might contact the health boards for the information sought.
