asked the Minister for Finance the steps he is taking to deal with the large numbers of stray horses in the Phoenix Park, Dublin; and if they will be removed as a matter of urgency.

Trespassing horses are a continuing problem in the Phoenix Park as in parks and public areas throughout the country. It is the policy of the Commissioners of Public Works to have trespassing animals removed from the park and taken to the City Pound. Since 15 October 1980 this has been done on 36 occasions. The commissioners will continue to implement this policy.
