132.

asked the Minister for the Public Service if employment agencies are being used by his Department to recruit workers on a full-time or part-time basis; if his Department or any semi-State body under the aegis of his Department have used agency staff in the past 12 months and for what grade of worker, i.e. manual, clerical, technical; and if he will state in respect of such staff over the last 12 months (a) the name of the agencies, (b) the number of staff hired, (c) the cost per head to the State and (d) the total amount paid by his Department.

No employment agency is being used by my Department to recruit staff on a full-time or part-time basis nor has my Department used any agency staff in the past 12 months.

The Institute of Public Administration, which receives an annual grant-in-aid from my Department, has in the past 12 months used three clerical staff supplied by Mary B Cremin, Employment Services Ltd. The average cost per head, which was borne by the institute, was £1,712.83. No payment was made by my Department in respect of these staff.
