Vol. 353 No. 6

Written Answers. - Group Water Schemes.

558.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position with regard to a group water scheme (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is no record in my Department of a proposed group water scheme under the name supplied by the Deputy. However, my Department paid grants totalling £7,000 for a group scheme completed in the locality in 1978.

559.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the significant development of group water schemes at present taking place in County Galway and in other counties throughout the western region, he will extend financial aid to group water schemes under the western package for a further two years after June 1985.

Any proposal to vary the terms applicable to aid for the rural water supply programme under the FEOGA western package would require the approval of the European Commission. The matter is kept under constant review in the light of progress with the programme.
