Vol. 353 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Roscommon Water Supply Scheme.

624.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the North Eastern Regional Water Supply Scheme in County Roscommon will be out for tender; and the expected completion date.

625.

asked the Minister for the Environment, when the final documentation was supplied to his Department regarding the North Eastern Regional Water Supply Scheme; the cost of the scheme; and when it will be approved by his Department.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 624 and 625 together.

The necessary additional technical information for this scheme was received in my Department on 13 September 1984 and is being examined at present. The scheme is to serve about 700 houses and 650 farms. While most of the scheme is intended to be carried out by direct labour, tenders will be required for certain plant and reservoirs. It is not possible to indicate when tenders will be sought or the completion date as the scheme has yet to be approved. It would not be appropriate to indicate the estimated cost of the scheme until such time as the tendering process has been completed. Until the technical examination of the proposal has been completed I cannot indicate when a decision will issue.
