asked the Minister for Justice if a person (details supplied) in Dublin was convicted for supplying heroin, the length of sentence given; and the length he served in prison.

Limerick East): The offender was serving five years for unlawful possession of a controlled drug and for the possession of a controlled drug for the purpose of supplying it to others. He was committed on 11 November 1982 and was due for release on 12 May 1986.

Following detailed consideration by various specialists including a counsellor from Coolmine Therapeutic Community, it was decided that he be allowed temporary release on 2 October 1984 on condition that he reside at Coolmine for the remainder of his sentence.

He absconded from Coolmine on 19 October 1984 but was arrested by the Garda on 19 November 1984 and recommitted to Mountjoy prison.
