Vol. 354 No. 2

Written Answers. - Kerry National School.

665.

asked the Minister for Education if she will make money available to have repairs done to Tooreenard national school, Knocknagoshel, County Kerry, as this school is closed at present and the children are not attending any school.

My information is that the school reopened on 16 November after repairs to the building had been carried out by the board of management.

Since 1976 recognition has been continued to Tooreenard school on the strict understanding that the school would be maintained in suitable repair without the aid of State grants. This continues to be the case.

As I understand that there are only some twelve children now attending the school and in view of the defective condition of the building, the board of management are being consulted urgently about the future provision to be made for the education of the children in the Tooreenard area.
