Vol. 354 No. 4

Written Answers. - Disabled Person's Maintenance Allowance.

658.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a disabled person's maintenance allowance has not yet been granted to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; how long this application has been before the board; the reason there has been such an undue delay; and when a decision will be made in this case.

An application for a disabled person's maintenance allowance from the person in question was received by the SouthEastern Health Board on 14 May 1984. The reason for the delay in processing the application is that since submitting it, the applicant has changed residence three times. On each occasion the health board found difficulty in tracing him. A further delay was caused by the fact that the person has attended three medical consultants and, in these circumstances, the health board have asked for a consultant's report. A decision on the application is, however, expected shortly.
