asked the Minister for Health if he will state the value of the contribution to the hospital system made by the Irish Hospitals Sweeps in each of the years 1950 to date; or, if figures are not available in this form, if he will give whatever figures he can in order to make it possible to assess the relative benefit derived by hospitals from the sweeps expressed in terms of an upward or downward trend.

The financial benefit derived by the health services from the Irish Hospitals Sweepstakes in each of the years 1950 to 1983, inclusive, is as follows:
