Vol. 354 No. 12

Written Answers. - Sheep Inspections.

352.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will consider bringing forward the inspection dates for the ewe premium to facilitate sheep farmers who would be selling numbers of their breeding ewes.

Sheep inspections in 1985 will commence some six weeks earlier than in 1984 and this earlier start will ensure that, as laid down in the relevant EC regulations, all inspections under the 1984-85 ewe premium scheme will be completed within the prescribed 100 days retention period from 15 March 1985, the last day for accepting applications.
