The purchase of a site for a new Garda divisional headquarters at West Gate, Drogheda, has been negotiated with Drogheda Corporation. the legal formalities must yet be completed. some preliminary planning has been undertaken and detailed site investigations will be carried out shortly. It is not possible to indicate at this stage when building works will commence. I am satisfied that construction of a new building as now proposed would be a more satisfactory solution to the accommodation problems of the Garda in Drogheda than would the adaptation of the existing building.
