Vol. 355 No. 1

Written Answers. - Clondalkin (Dublin) Detention Centre.

378.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is satisfied that copper tubing being used in the construction of a detention centre for the Department of Justice at Clondalkin, County Dublin, is Irish made.

The Commissioners of Public Works are advised that in the construction of the Place of Detention at Wheatfield, Clondalkin, County Dublin, it is the intention of the subcontractor concerned to use Irish manufactured copper tubing to the extent that it is available and meets the required standard.

Having regard to EC rules of competition it is not open to the Commissioners to specify the use of materials in a manner which would discriminate in favour of any particular member state.
