asked the Minister for Health when work will commence on the health centres at Waterford, Gorey, Carlow and Kilkenny and on the extension to the health centres at Castlecomer and Mullinavat; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am still examining the many proposals put forward by the health boards for inclusion in the capital programme for the health services for the next three years. It is not yet possible to specify the precise breakdown of this programme or to indicate the timing of the projects that will be included in it.

The health centres for Gorey and Carlow have reached advanced planning stages. Preliminary planning has been carried out on the extension to the county clinic, Kilkenny and on the new community care headquarters and health centre for Waterford.

The South Eastern Health Board hope to provide an extension to the health centre at Castlecomer and a new health centre at Mullinavat shortly.
