Vol. 355 No. 1

Written Answers. - Denture Treatment.

403.

Mr. J. Fahy

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the long waiting list for denture treatment in Waterford city and county; and if he has any proposals to improve the position.

Eligible persons have to wait approximately six months for dentures in Waterford city and county. This is due to curtailment by the health board of the ad hoc dental scheme due to lack of funds and to staff shortages at the health board's dental clinics. Every effort is being made to bring the dental staff complement of the health board up to full strength and this should result in an improvement in the provision of dentures in 1985.
