Vol. 355 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

404.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a disabled person's maintenance allowance was refused to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary who suffers from the disease of pneumoconiosis which is certifiable under the Occupational Injuries Act; if this allowance will be granted in the light of this information; and when this will be granted.

Disabled persons maintenance allowance is payable to eligible persons between the age of 16 and 66 years who, due to a disability are incapable of working for a period of at least one year. The person referred to by the Deputy was examined by a medical officer of the South Eastern Health Board, and was found to be ineligible for the allowance on medical grounds.
