Vol. 355 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

594.

asked the Minister for Education if she will pay £30 per month to 6th year commercial pupils in the presentation secondary school, Grogan's Road, Wexford, as is the case for 5th year pupils in the same school as both classes are by and large doing the same training.

The vocational preparation programme, like the pre-employment programme from which it was developed, offers participants a combination of vocational training, work experience and preparation, with an element of general and social studies in a one year full time programme which commenced in September 1984. Plans are being prepared, subject to continued ESF funding, to introduce a second year's programme. In the circumstances, it would not be possible to include the second year of a course in the vocational preparation and training programme in the 1984-85 school year.
