Vol. 355 No. 1

Written Answers. - Kerry Road Improvement.

326.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will allocate a special grant to Kerry County Council for the carrying out of major improvement scheme works on the road from the Gap Cross at Fossa, Killarney, to Dunloe Cross on the road to the Gap of Dunloe; and if he will make a statement on the matter having regard to the urgent need for this work.

It is understood that the road in question is a county road. Responsibility for the planning, execution and timing of any improvement works for the road, including the provision of the necessary finance, rests, therefore, with Kerry County Council. The council may, at their own discretion, use the block grant to supplement expenditure from their own resources (including the rate support grant) on such improvement works.
