The appointment of a harbour master at Burtonport is a matter for Donegal County Council which is responsible for the management and operation of Burtonport Pier. However, the council is anxious to introduce by-laws for the regulation of Burtonport Pier before proceeding with the appointment of a harbour master. Draft by-laws recently submitted by the council are being examined by my Department in consultation with other interested Government Departments.
