asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the very serious condition of the inner road networks in Drogheda, County Louth, in particular Magdalene Street and Scarlet Street; and that the consultants employed by the corporation have completed their report and an application has been made to his Department for £700,000 to complete this much needed work; if he will make a statement as to when this money will be made available to Drogheda Corporation and in what proportion; the amount which will be paid in 1984 and in 1985; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Proposals for the reconstruction of the two streets in question have only recently been received in my Department, and are at present under examination. The question of making a commitment of a grant for the works will be decided as soon as possible. Road grants for 1985 have already been fully allocated to local authorities.
