, Limerick East): It is assumed that what the Deputy has in mind is the neighbourhood watch scheme currently being set up by the Garda authorities with the co-operation of local communities. I am informed by the Garda authorities that neighbourhood watch schemes have already been launched and are operational in six localities in the Tallaght area.
A further scheme in the Millbrook Lawns area of Tallaght is due to be launched today. It is expected that schemes will be launched in four other localities in the Tallaght area within the next few weeks and preparations for the introduction of the scheme are at various stages of development in six other localities in the area. No schemes have yet been established in the Clondalkin area.
