Vol. 355 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Donegal Road Grant.

427.

asked the Minister for Environment the latest position regarding the availability of a grant for the reconstruction of the Ballybofey/Fintown/Dungloe Road, County Donegal.

The cost of improvement work on the road referred to, which is a regional route, normally falls to be met from the county council's own resources, supplemented by the block grant made to the council. In the current year this grant amounts to £945,000 and the council have wide discretion in the selection of works to be undertaken with the aid of the grant.

I am considering the possibility of making a grant for the project under the Special Border Areas Programme which is funded jointly by the Exchequer and the European Communities. Decisions on 1985 allocations under the programme will be made shortly.
