Vol. 355 No. 7

Written Answers. - EC Fund Payments.

455.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money allocated originally under the EC Special Border Areas Fund; the amount applied for in each category and each year to date; and the amount paid in each category in each year.

I assume the Deputy is referring to the European Community allocation. The amount of money allocated by the European Regional Development Fund to the Special Border Areas Programme was 16m ECU (£11.5m), payable over five years.

As payments are not made in respect of individual categories but rather in respect of the programme as a whole, the Deputy will understand that the precise information on amounts applied for and paid in respect of each category does not exist.

However, I have had the following table drawn up showing the national expenditures reported to the Commission in each year for each of the categories and the appropriate amount of ERDF aid applicable to each category.
