asked the Minister for Education if she has any plans to give sanction to Drogheda VEC for the replacement of St. Laurence's College, Drogheda, which is inadequate and unsuitable; if she will agree that there is a very serious need for a new school on the north side of Drogheda; if she will provide funds for the purchase of a site which is available to the VEC; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A request from the Town of Drogheda Vocational Education Committee for the recognition of St. Laurence's College as a separate school and for the purchase of a site for a new school building is at an advanced stage of consideration in my Department. A decision will be conveyed to the committee as soon as possible.
