asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of revenue collected from motor taxation on all types of vehicles including cars, vans, trucks and tractors in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1984.

Following is the trend in the amount of motor tax revenue collected since 1981 (including driver licence fees): 1981, £36.22 million; 1982, £67.59 million; 1983, £89.56 million; £1984, £105.2 million.

The figure for 1984 is provisional, pending the reconciliation of the returns from local authorities with the local and central bank statements when these become available in due course.
