Vol. 356 No. 3

Written Answers. - Local Authorities Statutory Demands.

443.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to keep statutory demands on local authorities in line with rate limitation; and, if not, whether local authorities are expected to pay these demands, which can increase by as much as 70 per cent in one year with rate limitation of as little as 1 per cent.

I have endeavoured to ensure that increases in statutory demands by the relevant bodies on local authorities are kept within reasonable limits having regard to their impact on local finances.
