Vol. 356 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

480.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for an immediate inspection in connection with a home improvement application made by a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

An inspection with a view to approval of a grant, if in order, will be carried out in this case as soon as possible.

481.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider paying even a reduced amount of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where an appeal was lodged against the decision of his Department to refuse to pay him this grant.

No grant can be allowed in this case because contrary to a statutory condition of this scheme, the work had commenced before inspection of the house was carried out.

482.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement on the situation with regard to new house grant application made by a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if all moneys due to this person have been paid.

A new house grant totalling £325 under and old scheme was paid to the person named, £230 was paid in March 1977 and £95 was paid in August 1979. No further new house grant payments are due to this applicant from my Department.

483.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that his Department were notified on 4 December 1984 by a person (details supplied) in County Limerick that a new house which he built at Clooneyduff, Patrickswell, has been finished and that he is awaiting inspection with a view to having grants paid in respect of this house; and when the inspection will take place.

Following notification to my Department that the house in question was completed the file in this case was referred to my Department's inspector for final inspection and this will be carried out within the next two weeks.

484.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the non-payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

This application was refused because, contrary to a statutory condition of the scheme, the particular works had commenced prior to an inspection of the house. A further inspection is, however, being arranged in response to a request for other works to be considered for grant purposes.
