asked the Minister for Labour the steps which have been taken to increase women's participation in the higher employment potential training courses such as management courses of the AnCO training scheme.

I propose to take Question Nos. 652 and 657 together.

The number of women trained on adult courses has been increasing steadily. In 1975 women trainees made up 10 per cent of those trained and in 1984 this had risen to 32 per cent.

Though the majority of women applicants opt for training for traditionally female occupations, there are a small but significant number of women in training in traditionally male occupations. These include electronics, silk screen printing, management and engineering based courses.

In addition to increasing the number of women participating in traditionally male courses, AnCO has run a number of courses specifically designed for women. These include 'women in publishing', 'women in co-operatives' and 'return to work' courses.

In 1984 the percentage of participants in higher employment potential training courses who were women was:

%

Management Training Courses

40

Enterprise Training Courses

40

High Technology Training Courses

35

(Programming, Systems Analysis etc.)
