Vol. 356 No. 9

Written Answers. - Boyne Drainage Scheme.

465.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of persons employed on the Boyne drainage scheme in County Meath for the years 1982, 1983 and 1984; and the projected numbers for 1985.

The annual average number of persons employed on the Boyne drainage scheme was as follows: 1982, 383; 1983, 373; 1984, 284. At the end of February 1985, 252 persons were employed on the Boyne scheme.

The scheme is due for completion later this year and at that stage the numbers employed will be significantly reduced. At this point it is not possible to say how many employees will be retained for permanent maintenance work.
