I informed the County Monaghan Vocational Education Committee in August 1984 that the acquisition of the CBS property in Monaghan could not be sanctioned. I am not prepared to depart from that decision.

asked the Minister for Education when the work on extensions to the VEC schools at Monaghan, Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Ballybay and Clones will commence.
Extentions have been approved to the VEC schools for Carrickmacross, Castleblayney and Monaghan Town and are in course of architectural planning. Pending completion of the planning process, I am not in a position to say when construction work will be commenced.
Extensions have not been approved to the VEC schools at Ballybay and Clones. In the case of the school at Clones an offer of one prefabricated classroom has been made to the vocational education committee.
