Vol. 357 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire (Dublin) School.

567.

asked the Minister for Education if she will consider allocating a grant to a school (details supplied) in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, which incurred a large expense, including VAT, on repairs recently; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Under the terms of the secondary schools' building grant scheme, capital grants are not payable towards the cost of maintenance and repairs of schools. That scheme of grants relates to the provision of new school accommodation and extensions to existing accommodation. The annual capitation grants which are paid to schools are intended to meet, inter alia, general maintenance costs including repairs to buildings.
