Vol. 357 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Galway Oyster Fishery Order.

532.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway who applied for an oyster licence was refused by the Central Fisheries Board; and who the objectors were in this case.

The person in question applied to my Department, not to the Central Fisheries Board, on 12 May 1978, for an oyster fishery order in County Galway.

A public inquiry into the application was held on 17 July 1980 and, following consideration of all the evidence presented at that inquiry, the then Minister was not prepared to grant the oyster fishery order sought. The applicant was informed accordingly.
