Vol. 357 No. 9

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

533.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway only received a tax rebate of £120 despite the fact that she paid £745 in the tax year before she became redundant.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer ceased employment on 21 December 1984. Tax in the amount of £334.33 had been deducted from her earnings to that date. A claim for repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment which she submitted to the inspector of taxes, was dealt with and a cheque for £210.25 in settlement was issued to the taxpayer on 27 March 1985.

A review of the taxpayer's liability for 1984-85 now falls to be made and the inspector will be requesting from her certain details required for the purposes of the review. Any further repayment which may be due will be made to the taxpayer on completion of the review.
