Vol. 358 No. 5

Written Answers. - Swords (Dublin) By-pass.

573.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he expects work to commence on the additional over-bridges on the Swords by-pass.

Lands at the locations selected by the council for the construction of the over-bridges are the subject of a compulsory purchase order which the council have submitted to me for confirmation. Since valid objections against confirmation of the order have been made to me, I must cause a public local inquiry to be held into the objections. There will be no avoidable delay in making arrangements for the holding of the inquiry and in making a determination in the matter.

In view of my quasi-judicial functions in relation to the inquiry, it would not be appropriate for me to make any comment at this stage on the likely date of commencement of the proposed works.
