Vol. 358 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Dublin Psychiatric Hospital.

610.

asked the Minister for Health if, in the light of the report, Psychiatric Services—Planning for the Future, he will give an assurance that St. Ita's Hospital, Portrane, County Dublin, will be allowed to continue its treatment of psychiatric patients most of whom are unsuitable for out-patients care; and if he will further confirm that there will be no reduction in the number or status of the staff.

The report Psychiatric Services—Planning for the Future has been circulated to the health boards and other interested bodies for comment. Detailed plans based on the recommendations in the report will not be drawn up until the views of these groups have been received. I have noted the deputy's views in regard to St. Ita's Hospital, Portrane.
