Vol. 358 No. 12

Written Answers. - Copper Tubing.

630.

asked the Minister for Health in relation to any public contracts which are in receipt of financial provision from his Department and which use copper tubing in the construction, whether, in the case of each of these projects, imported copper tubing or copper tubing which is manufactured in Ireland is used in the construction.

On all public contracts funded from the Health Vote my Department has specified that copper pipe in the size ranges to which the standard applies (that is 15mm nominal size up to 54mm) must comply with I.S. 238 as laid down by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards. In general pipe complying with this standard is manufactured in Ireland. Copper pipe outside the size ranges covered by the standard is imported.
