asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of a commitment given in writing by the Minister of State at his Department to Brother Kiely, Principal, James's Street, CBS primary school, Dublin 8, sanctioning a grant of £5,000 for the purchase of a minibus as a result of which the principal purchased a new minibus only to be subsequently informed by the Dublin Corporation inner city group that they are only empowered to issue a cheque for £2,500; and, in view of the financial embarrassment caused to the school through the actions of his Minister of State, if he will grant the remaining £2,500 from his Departmental funds.
A grant of £5,000 in respect of the purchase of a secondhand minibus will be paid in this case provided the necessary details regarding the purchase are available to Dublin Corporation as agents of the Inner City Group.
