Vol. 359 No. 9

Written Answers. - Education of Disabled Children.

362.

asked the Minister for Education if she will comment on an article (details supplied) regarding the education of disabled children; and if she will arrange for the development of such a facility in Irish schools.

The responsible officials in my Department keep in constant touch with developments in the field of special education both at home and abroad with a view to having the best possible facilities available in Irish schools. A proposal for the education of some mentally handicapped children in the Dublin area has been made by the person who supplied the Deputy with the article in question and this proposal is under consideration.
